Big shout out to all our amazing volunteers at Rideau Park School for all that they do. It was our Volunteer Tea yesterday and a lovely afternoon with a tea party theme! Some students helped to make a custom 'Rideau Relaxation' tea blend as a little gift for each volunteer. We hope you enjoy it. Thank you to the volunteers who help look after the maker space all year! We really appreciate you.
There are many projects going on right now in The Space - grade 5's are building a collaborative mini city. It's inspired by a project that the grade 7's did this year and there is a lot of excitement around it! Stay tuned.... Grade 2's are just finishing up their Genius Hour projects and presenting them. One group learned the history behind cupcakes, and then made them from scratch at our school with Mrs.Prangnell. They were delicious! Grade 6's are also finishing up their Genius Hour projects. Last week one group presented their ice cream experiment and made 4 different flavours of hand churned ice cream for everyone to try. We learned about the challenges of making ice cream this way and appreciated the effort from the group. Grade 1's have just begun their very first Genius Hour! The excitement is real and I can't wait to see how their projects turn out. Puppet shows, little houses, cardboard projects, coding on Scratch Jr, trying out Make Makey..... Grade 3's will continue with their Genius Hour projects as well. It's Genius Hour madness right now! I have been loving seeing the chicks from Mrs.Prangnell's classroom and watching students with them. What a special experience for our school! Come check them out before they head to Ben's farm soon.
