In The Space we've been working on so many unique projects. Grade 5's and 4's have been coding by learning how to use Makey Makey - https://makeymakey.com. Grade 5 also did a Pablo Picasso inspired self-portrait art project recently.
Grade 6's just began a new Genius Hour project, and Grade 2's are starting their first ever Genius Hour projects! Grade 3's will be starting another Genius Hour project too. We love Genius Hour and the creativity involved. Students learn to independently research their passion projects and present them in unique ways. Stay tuned for more info! Grade 1's have been enjoying some choice time at various centers in The Space that include building, making, coding, circuits, puppets, sand station, and a specific design challenge each time. With many of the classes we've also worked on creating tiny houses - based on the tiny house phenomenon that's taken over. We looked at why people would use tiny houses and the benefits of them. Then we thought of the design process and how to go about creating small spaces that are functional with everyday items that would be necessary to live with. Check out the pictures below of some awesome tiny houses! There's a funky art exhibit with local artists and creators at Southcentre Mall right now until mid-June called CHROMA -https://www.southcentremall.com/events/southcentre-chroma/
